Volume Statistics
Knight Capital Group, Inc. (August 14, 2008) (Nasdaq: NITE) today posted monthly U.S. equity volume statistics for the month of July 2008 on its web site.
For the month of July 2008, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq Composite Index rose 0.2 percent and 1.4 percent, respectively and the S&P 500 Index declined 1.0 percent.
"In July, an overall increase in broad stock market volumes contributed to growth in Knight’s daily average U.S. equity share volume, trades and dollar value traded," said Thomas M. Joyce, Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer, Knight Capital Group. "Listed volumes were largely driven by alternative liquidity providers and new quantitative trading models. Despite investor uncertainty, we witnessed some speculative activity as evidenced by a jump in shares traded of Bulletin Boards and Pink Sheets."
