MARKET MAKING / ETG BUSINESS OVERVIEW
Knight runs one of Wall Street's most successful and innovative automated electronic trading systems. The Electronic Trading Group (ETG) is a business unit within Knight, specializing in automated market making and principal trading. The group works closely with many other groups within the firm, such as marketing and communications, human resources, finance and technology. We pride ourselves on our cutting edge quantitative models and trading technology. Our quantitative strategists develop statistical models of asset prices using data from the exchanges, company filings and other sources. These models detect and trade on market inefficiencies. The technologists in ETG provide high-performance trading platforms with low latency. The Quantitative Strategy Team and Technology Team work side by side to build and maintain our highly profitable trading engine.
Knight's Electronic Trading Group has had immense success in U.S. equities and is expanding internationally and across asset classes. In 2008, Knight launched ETG Europe and continues to grow the business and market coverage. Knight has committed significant technology and intellectual capital to capture the nuances of both the European marketplace as a whole and the complex microstructures of each country's individual markets. Building on the success of ETG's U.S. equities business, we now have quantitative models and strategies to trade futures, options and foreign currencies.
